Week 716 October 2025 (by Kim Naylor (K.Bolton)) |
This week children have been introduced to a new book, called The Friendship Bench. It is a story about a little girl who starts a new school and feels sad to leave her Mummy and her dog, Shadow, behind. Her teacher suggests that she try the friendship bench, where she meets a little boy. We’ve explored the emotions of the girl and how they change through the story. In provision, children have been creating their own benches.
In maths, we have been exploring number bonds to 5. As part of the Early Learning Goals, children should be able to recall these number facts confidently. The homework this week will allow children to share their learning with you. Please encourage your child to use resources at home to help them find the number facts, for example using 5 cars.
As part of our RE, we have been learning about family. Our family at home, family st school and our church family. We role played a Baptism and discussed how the child is welcomed into God’s family. Next week, we will visit church and see if we can spot item used as part of a baptism. If you have pictures of your child’s baptism, please send them to eyfs@saintcuthberts.wigan.sch.uk for us to share with their class.
