Reception - Sum2 Review

13 July 2025 (by Paula Powell (PPowell))

As our final half term together draws to a close, Reception team would like to thank our children and their families for the learning, love and laughter shared throughout the year.

Summer 2 theme, 'Who Wears This Hat?' began with Simon Philips story, 'You Must Bring a Hat' enabling us to learn more about 'People Who Help Us' in our community including the police and firefighters. Later we explored the non-fiction text, 'Coco' which provided opportunity to compare localities including Wigan, London and Paris. In Maths, we continued to develop a deeper understanding of numbers to 10 including doubles, halves and sharing. We also explored capacity, shape and measure.  In RE, we have enjoyed a class visit from a member of a parish community to find out more about their faith beliefs.  In PSHE, we have continued to explore our own family tree (past and present).

Highlights of the half term include a hat party, therapy dog visit, food tasting, visiting the Year 1 team and classrooms.

We hope the children enjoy sharing their Sum2 learning, achievements and experiences with you through the following photos.
